O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness; let the whole earth stand

De profundis.
OUT of the deep have I called unto thee, O LORD;
* Lord, hear my voice.
O let thine ears consider well
* the voice of my complaint.
If thou, LORD, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amiss,
* O Lord, who may abide it?
For there is mercy with thee;
* therefore shalt thou be feared.
I look for the LORD; my soul doth wait for him;
* in his word is my trust.
My soul fleeth unto the Lord before the morning watch;
* I say, before the morning watch.
O Israel, trust in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy,
* and with him is plenteous redemption.

The One Hundred Thirty Eighth Psalm
Confitebor tibi.
I WILL give thanks unto thee, O Lord, with my whole heart;

Name, because of thy loving-kindness and truth;
* for thou hast magnified thy Name, and thy word,
above all things.
When I called upon thee, thou heardest me;

GLORY be to God on high, and on earth peace, good will towards men. We
praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give
thanks to thee for thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the
Father Almighty.
O Lord, the only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son
of the Father, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon
us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon
us. For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ,
with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
The First Lesson
Isaiah 54:11
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair
colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of
carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and
great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from
oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. Behold, they shall
surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument
for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against thee shall
prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage
of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Magnificat. St. Luke i. 46.
MY soul doth magnify the Lord, * and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my
Saviour.
For he hath regarded * the lowliness of his handmaiden.
For behold, from henceforth * all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath magnified me; * and holy is his Name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him * throughout all generations.
He hath showed strength with his arm; * he hath scattered the proud in

The Second Lesson
Ephesians 6:1-9
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the
first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of
the Lord. Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and
trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the
servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and
not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord,
whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening:
knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

LORD, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, * according to thy

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

The Collect for the Day
The Fourth Sunday After Easter
O ALMIGHTY God, who alone canst order the unruly wills and
affections of sinful men; Grant unto thy people, that they may love
the thing which thou commandest, and desire that which thou dost
promise; that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the
world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are
to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Collect for Peace.
O GOD, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works
do proceed; Give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot
give; that our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that
by thee, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our
time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our
Saviour. Amen.
A Collect for Aid against Perils.
LIGHTEN our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy
defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy
only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Prayer for the President of the United States
A Prayer for the Clergy and People.
Almighty and everlasting God, from whom cometh every good and perfect
gift; Send down upon our Bishops, and other Clergy, and upon the
Congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy
grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual
dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate
and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Prayer for All Conditions of Men.
O God, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee
for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to
make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More
especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may be so
guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call
themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the
faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of
life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are any
ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; [* especially
those for whom our prayers are desired;] that it may please thee to
comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving
them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their
afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
A General Thanksgiving

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the
